is my ac bad good or normal

Posted On: May 15, 2023
Ok ladies and gents. Purchased a home, new to us and noticed some icing on this part of my furnace. The AC is on, set to 70 and the ambient temp outside is 82. It's an R22 unit . Is this bad, good or normal? I'm pretty handy at most things but no experience with this. Question from user Dry_Fig1158 at hvacadvice at reddit. Answer: The presence of icing on a part of your furnace can indicate a potential issue that should be addressed. Here are a few considerations regarding the icing on your furnace: Airflow Issues: Icing can occur when there . . . [More]

heat pump question

We are considering buying a heat pump/furnace for my home in North Texas. I am looking for opinions on 2 products I am choosing between, specifically the quality of the product, functionality, if others have encountered issues with these products, etc. I am not familiar with Gree at all. I am confident either company we are choosing will do a clean, appropriate install. 1 Gree Flexx 17 SEER, 54,000 BTU 5 ton with an American Standard 100K BTU 80% Gas Furnace. 2 Bosch Variable Speed 20 Seer 5-Ton with a Bosch High Efficiency Variable Speed Gas F . . . installing a mini split without drilling holes into my wall

Anyone have experience with putting the cables through a window or deck door? Hi, my condo won't let me drill through the will to feed the cables for a mini split. I'm examining my options, and am considering putting the cables through the deck door, and sealing the gap with tape and cardboard. Would this still be effective? Thanks!. Question from user godstriker8 at hvacadvice at reddit. Answer: Would this still be effective? Hard to tell without photos, but it sounds like a disaster in the making. Why not just use window units? Answer from us . . . [More]

I'm dealing with an old GMV950905DXBB. All of a sudden no heat. Three flashes, low fire pressure switch stuck open. So, I tried tondiagnose the issue and found when turning on the furnace, the ID fan doesn't start, three flashes for the switch stuck open, blower kicks on and then will turn off. I checked the P Switch and it was fine. Swapped it out for a new one anyway. I took the ID fan out to check for any blockages or damaged tubing on the switches, etc nothing. So I wanted to test the ID fan motor itself. I jumped it with external power an . . . [More]

how to deal with mold in our hvac unit

We called out an HVAC guy to service the unit before summer comes around. We just wanted to make sure the coils were cleaned and everything was working good. But then when he went into the unit he told us there was mold in there. Or rather, microbial particles because he couldn't legally say it was mold. I want to preface this by saying that my dad and I aren't very knowledgeable with HVAC systems. we know basic things and basic maintenance but I'm posting today for advice. and i'm hoping to get off-the-record advice preferably no busines . . . I never installed batteries into our hardwired VIVE thermostat and it's been working fine but today it shut off. I checked the breakers and nothing was tripped. I installed batteries which powered the thermostat on but when I switched it to cool, it doesn't kick the RHEEM AC unit outside on. What could be the issue? Question from user helpmeanswerquestion at hvacadvice at reddit. Answer: If your hardwired VIVE thermostat has shut off unexpectedly, there could be several potential reasons for this issue. Motivational Segmentation

The other day I wrote an ebook about motivational segmentation. It wasn't called that, because, seriously, who would choose to read something with that title. Instead, I called the eBook, Grow Your Coaching Practice 8X With One Single Sales Strategy. But what I shared in that free eBook isn't just for coaches. I would submit that learning and leveraging motivational segmentation is for anyone who is selling anything. In other words, it's for everyone. We've talked about segmentation before I've written about segmentation before (and ev . . . [More]

why does my pool heater smell like gas?

why does my pool heater smell like gas?

Posted On: May 7, 2023
Pool heaters offer warm, comfortable swimming and relaxation throughout the year. Almost every pool heating system runs off of a gas line, other than those that take advantage of the sun’s heat. If you have a pool heater on your equipment pad, it’s time to find out why it smells like gas. Your pool heater smells like gas because it’s leaking from one of the galvanized unions or couplings. A crack or leak will slowly spread gas throughout the area, which can be quite dangerous. Turn off the heater, close the nearest gas line, and call a re . . . [More]
